Nearly 100 Winnipeggers Shared Their Holiday Plans with HTFC
Snowball fights. Spending time with family and friends. Waiting for the CPR Holiday Train. These were just a few of the reasons Winnipeggers were looking forward to the holidays as 2016 drew to a close.
Throughout the month of December, we held a festive contest to celebrate the Exchange District and some of our lovely neighbours. Simply by sharing their plans for the holiday break, Instagrammers were entered for a prize package which included: artisan jewellery from Tara Davis Studio Boutique; specially-curated coffee beans, tea and a travel mug from Parlour Coffee; a box of ready-to-devour donuts from Bronuts; a gift card from King & Bannatyne for plenty of sandwiches; a mug of Thunderbird House from Winnipeg Architecture Foundation; and honey made in the Exchange District from Bee Project Apiaries. Every post gave participants an additional ballot for the random draw. Some of our favourite responses below:
- “Time with family I never see.”
- “Spending quality time with my family and close friends. That’s really what life is all about!”
- “I am looking forward to tobogganing.”
- “Cookie exchanges, and then eating lots of cookies.”
- “Snowball fights!”
- “We take our children to see the CPR Holiday Train.”
- “I am going to get some skiing in!”
- “Love how people slow down at this time of year to appreciate the meaningful things in life.”
- “We love hanging out at The Forks on the weekend, taking in the talents of local artists, walking the promenade, and meeting new people. There is so much to do in Winnipeg!”
- “I’m looking forward to stopping by HTFC more often to see what kinds of snacks there are now that classes are over!”
- “Throw away the GPS and travel to parts unknown!”
Paula Ritchie, after picking up the prize package, had this to say: “Thank you again for all of the lovely gifts and the donuts were delicious! My daughter couldn’t even wait until we got home!”
As we looked towards the holidays, we were most excited for the following:
- Playing in the snow
- Catching up with all of our friends – furry ones, too!
- All of the lights
- Our staff holiday party
- Getting lost (on purpose)
- Doing what’s most important: celebrating
- Outdoor adventuring
- Shopping local
- Extra time for hatching plans
- The reveal of our holiday card
Thanks to all those who participated! Best wishes to you and your family this year. Stay tuned for our next social media contest – it’s going to be launched real soon!
