Winnipeg, MB – HTFC Planning & Design’s principal, Glen Manning, will be welcomed by the CSLA College of Fellows during the Congress of the World Design Summit, held at the Palais des Congrès in Montreal on October 19th, 2017, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the profession (Executed Works, Service to the Community or the Public and Direct Service to the Society), and joins three others:

• Joanne Moran, OALA, CSLA – for Direct Service to the Society
•  Claude Potvin, AAPQ, CSLA – for Direct Service to the Society and Administrative Professional Work in Public Agencies
• R. Mark Schollen OALA, CSLA – for Executed Works and Professional Writing

Induction to the College of Fellows is the highest honour the Society bestows on its members. Candidates for Fellowship may be nominated by individuals through their CSLA component association. A jury of five Fellows, representing regions across Canada, selected the new Fellows based on extensive submissions documenting each candidate’s contributions to the profession.

Since the inception of the CSLA’s College of Fellows in 1964, 229 members have been given the prestigious designation “FCSLA”, making it a true distinction and honour conferred by the Society.

Glen is the managing principal at HTFC Planning & Design in Winnipeg, with more than 25 years of local and international experience across a broad range of practice. His work has garnered several awards, and includes urban design, transportation corridors, heritage sites, bridge architecture, accessible housing and landscapes, active transportation, graphic design and interpretive planning. He is a registered Green Roof Professional (GRP) and a frequent guest lecturer at the University of Manitoba’s Civil Engineering Department and Department of Landscape Architecture. Glen’s community service commitments are focused on inclusive and sustainable community design. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce’s Environmental Leadership Council, a board member of the Green Action Centre, and a committee member for the Manitoba Recreational Trails Association following his time on the board. He was the lead author of provincial policy document on Visitable Housing for Manitoba Housing and remains actively involved with the Canadian Centre on Disability Studies’ visitability projects.

The Congress of the World Design Summit, to be held October 16-19, 2017, at the Palais des Congrès in Montreal, is the premier networking and educational event for the growing Canadian landscape architecture profession. The CSLA represents all major decision-makers from Canada’s landscape architecture profession, including landscape architects from private practices, educational facilities, municipalities, government ministries and agencies.

The Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) is a professional organization with over 1,900 landscape architects as members represented by provincial and territorial associations plus academic programs across the nation. As the voice of the profession in Canada, the CSLA is an advocate for its members on issues such as urban renewal, sustainable development and cultural heritage.
