Winnipeg Folk Festival Donor Forest

On November 27, 2012, the Winnipeg Folk Festival unveiled their Donor Forest as part of their Staging the Future fundraising campaign. The Donor Forest will be a permanent feature of their Site Redevelopment Project, which also includes a new festival village and two forest stages. The Donor Forest is a “community” of shade structures designed by HTFC, intermingled among trees along a curving pathway. The most visible elements at walking height are smooth poles wrapped with inscribed text. The etchings of text recall the pattern of birch tree bark. This concept speaks to both growth and shelter (literally and figuratively), providing gracefully integrated donor recognition and immediate and long-term benefits to patrons.
