McFeetors Heavy Horse Centre
As part of its Imagine a Place campaign, and thanks to a generous donation from Ray and Lynne-Anne McFeetors, the Assiniboine Park Conservancy has announced its plans to build a new Heavy Horse Centre at the Assiniboine Park Zoo. HTFC is proud to be a part of this unique project as landscape architects for this 4.7 acre site. The design team includes LM Architectural Group, Wolfrom Engineering, Sison Blackburn Consulting Inc., and SMS Engineering Ltd.
The Centre features barns and sheds, pastures, paddocks, and walking trails, bringing awareness to the role of the heavy horse in the development of the Canadian West. This project also affords the opportunity to provide zoo and park visitors with year-round activities, including direct interaction with the horses.
The plans for the McFeetors Heavy Horse Centre were announced at an on-site press conference on September 10, 2014. Work on site is beginning this fall, with plans to open the centre in the summer of 2015.
