Halifax Common Master Plan

Over 250 years ago, King George III granted 235 acres of pastureland in the heart of Halifax “for the use of the inhabitants of the Town of Halifax forever.”   The form and function of Canada’s oldest urban park has continuously evolved since these early days, the priorities and lifestyles of each generation leaving traces in the landscape of the Common. It remains an invaluable resource and civic hub for Haligonians.

HTFC has partnered with UPLAND to take a comprehensive look at the future of the Common and provide a strategy for revitalization that reflects Halifax today and tomorrow. The amazing participation at community workshops is a testament to Haligonians’ love and commitment to this place.  The Plan will be completed this summer.
