HTFC worked with staff, students and administrators at the Louis Riel School Division, the City of Winnipeg planning department, the Bishop Grandin Greenway Coalition, and Football Manitoba to develop a comprehensive secondary school redevelopment plan focused on state-of-the-art field amenities for Dakota Collegiate. The Master Plan includes a professional-grade synthetic multi-sport athletic field that can accommodate football, soccer, lacrosse, shot-put, javelin and high jump; a regulation size 400m rubber athletics track, integrated spectator berms, bleachers, scoreboards and lighting; on-site and overflow parking; safe pedestrian links and bus amenities; a main entry, student commons, a Plexipave basketball court, a provincial cricket training enclosure, and integrated naturalized landscape buffers. When complete, the re-imagined grounds will support the ongoing development of Dakota’s exceptional sports programs and elite athletes while adding a southern location to a city-wide network of professional outdoor athletics venues. Dakota Collegiate’s progressive and inclusive nature ensure the school grounds are accessible to the entire community. Site links extend out into the surrounding community and connect the school with the adjacent Bishop Grandin Greenway. This project is currently under construction. Murray Field was officially opened in September 2017.
