As a principal at HTFC, Tim brings more than 20 years of broad-ranging practice to the firm. An experienced project manager, he is recognized throughout the region for his work with Indigenous communities and municipal leaders on community planning, land and resource assessment, land selection, land use planning, public and community consultation, policy development, and project implementation. He draws equally on his background in social sciences, familiarity with diverse cultures, and technical knowledge in developing successful community landscapes. Tim applies meaningful consultation processes to help guide communities in undertaking insightful physical planning and policy creation. As well, he plays a key role in researching and assessing the loss of traditional resources on affected communities; technical review of claim assessment and valuation studies; negotiation of land values and land settlements; and claim implementation processes. He has earned an enviable reputation for his public communications strategies, including traditional knowledge transfers, referendums, and approval processes.
Tim holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology and a master’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Manitoba (UM), where his studies focused on universal design. He is a Registered Professional Planner (RPP), a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners, and an associate member of the Manitoba Association of Landscape Architects. He served on the Executive Council for the Manitoba Professional Planners Institute from 2012 through 2019, and continues to volunteer in support of the institute and UM Department of City Planning.
Outside of the office, Tim spends time undertaking construction and mechanical projects, playing music with friends, and enjoying Canada’s wilderness with his family.
